Lesson 1
Set up a clean connection workflow before trading from charts.
Tradovate can be connected from TradingView through the Trading Panel when the user has the required integration and market data access. After login, the trader must choose the correct broker account before any order is placed.
The common mistake is not technical. It is operational: trading the wrong account, wrong environment, wrong contract month, or wrong data feed. A prop workflow needs a pre-click checklist.
TradingView is useful for chart execution, but Tradovate should remain available as a backup for account monitoring, flattening, canceling orders, and checking account-specific information.

Before trading NQ, the trader confirms the selected account is the evaluation account, the active contract month is correct, and Tradovate is open for backup management.

Trade with protective orders and understand the platform actions that protect the account.
A bracket order links entry with protective stop loss and optional take profit. When supported, it gives the trader a defined risk plan at order placement instead of improvising after the fill.
For prop futures accounts, the most important buttons are not only buy and sell. Flatten, cancel all, bracket presets, position size, and account selector are survival controls.
Brackets should be planned before entry. If a platform or broker has limitations around adding brackets after a fill, the trader must know that before trading live conditions.
Example
A trader entering a futures scalp sets stop and target in the ticket, checks quantity, places the order, then knows exactly where flatten and cancel all are if the platform behaves unexpectedly.

Build a platform checklist that reduces account-operation errors.
Before session, confirm connection, account, contract, data, economic calendar, daily stop, threshold room, and order preset. During session, monitor open risk, pending orders, and dashboard thresholds. After session, flatten, cancel all, screenshot key metrics, and journal execution quality.
Most platform mistakes happen when a trader is tired, rushed, or trying to recover. The solution is a fixed sequence that does not depend on mood.
If connection drops, stop trading until account state is verified from the backup platform. Never assume an order failed just because one screen froze.
Example
After New York session, the trader clicks flatten, cancel all, checks no open positions or orders remain, records PnL and threshold room, then stops the platform.
