Opening brief
Monday, 2 November 2026. Research cutoff: 2026-11-02T13:05:12Z, or 08:05:12 ET / 20:05:12 WIB. Cash opens 09:30 ET / 21:30 WIB; coverage ends 12:00 ET / 00:00 WIB on 3 November. America/New_York is now on standard time, UTC−5. The exchange calendar indicates a regular session; no unscheduled full closure was confirmed. Nasdaq calendar
Lean: cautiously bullish; confidence: low–moderate. Three drivers are the technology rebound, lower oil alongside renewed Iran negotiations, and fresh company results supporting demand. The next scheduled US macro catalyst is final manufacturing PMI at 09:45 ET / 21:45 WIB, followed by the more consequential 10:00 ET / 22:00 WIB ISM/construction cluster. Prefer a confirmed retest after that cluster. Overnight direction is not an entry signal.
The strongest counterevidence is mixed rates confirmation: the 2-year yield is rising, Intel remains weak, and diplomacy has not produced a verified settlement. Invalidate the recovery preference if NQ accepts below its completed opening range, fails the reclaim and loses semiconductor support.
What changed since Friday’s cash close
Verified observations: NQ is outperforming ES and Dow futures, with gains in Nvidia, AMD, Microsoft and Alphabet. This is broader than a single-stock bounce, but Apple and Amazon show only small advances and Intel is negative. Reuters describes renewed technology buying after October’s AI-spending concerns; those older concerns remain context, not a newly released earnings shock. Reuters
Fresh geopolitical development: Reuters reports Iranian–Qatari negotiations and circulation of a draft proposal; oil fell sharply. Lower energy costs could ease inflation and corporate-margin pressure. That is a plausible transmission channel, not proof that negotiations caused every equity move. No completed agreement or restored shipping flow is established here. Reuters oil report
The opposing weekend development is Axios reporting, attributed to sources, that Netanyahu pressed Trump for strikes after the US midterms. Treat that as reported pressure, not an announced military decision. A reversal in oil would challenge the relief trade. Axios
Interpretation: conditions favor testing a recovery, not assuming a durable reversal. The slightly lower 10-year yield helps the valuation channel, but the higher 2-year yield argues against describing this as uniform monetary easing. No newly verified US trade-policy announcement is used to explain the move.
Earnings and leadership
Tower Semiconductor, released: revenue $526.161 million; GAAP/adjusted diluted EPS $1.05/$1.15. Adjustments add $11.042 million for stock compensation and intangible amortization. Calculated gross margin is 33.97%. Q4 revenue guidance is $600 million ±5%; operating cash of approximately $185 million trails net equipment investment of approximately $191 million. Company release Adjusted EPS and revenue exceed Earnings Whispers’ $1.06/$520.18 million estimates. Comparable estimates
Marriott, released: reported revenue $7.005 billion, GAAP diluted EPS $3.04 and adjusted EPS $3.02. Worldwide RevPAR rose 6.5%; Q4 adjusted-EPS guidance is $3.14–3.21. An expected insurance recovery contributed $0.03 per share after tax, so earnings quality deserves attention. A sufficiently reconciled consensus is unavailable here; no numerical surprise is claimed. Company results
The timestamped gains in Tower and Marriott are consistent with a favorable reception, without proving earnings alone caused them. Tower is a useful semiconductor read-through, not a substitute for heavyweight confirmation. Cash-intensive expansion can coexist with strong demand.
Apple and Palantir remain pending after the close. Their reports cannot explain today’s move as released results. Watch Apple’s holiday outlook, margins and memory costs, and Palantir’s commercial growth, profitability and cash conversion. Comparable revenue/EPS consensus was not sufficiently reconciled for this edition. Palantir confirms its 17:00 ET call; Apple’s same-time call is corroborated by current reporting, although its IR page did not expose the notice during retrieval. Palantir IR, Apple call
Cross-asset evidence

Equity/ETF changes use October 30 final regular-session prices. Futures/index changes use provider previous-reference fields, not independently certified settlements. NQ’s reference denominator is 28,534.00, not a claimed cash close. Both the specific NQ contract and the continuous reference identify December 2026. CME lists December 14 as customary roll and December 18 as expiry; today is outside that window. CME
Catalyst clock
- Before open: Tower and Marriott results are released. Marriott’s 08:00 ET / 20:00 WIB call has begun; live commentary is not verified. No major 08:30 ET BLS/BEA release was identified for today. Marriott schedule, BLS, BEA
- 09:45 ET / 21:45 WIB: US final manufacturing PMI, pending. Calendar expectation 56.0; the prior-month/flash comparison was not independently reconciled. Calendar
- 10:00 ET / 22:00 WIB: ISM manufacturing, pending: consensus 54.6, previous 54.5. Prices expectation 77.0 versus 77.9; previous orders 55.3 and employment 52.7. No new actuals or revisions exist at cutoff. ISM timing, previous report, consensus

- 11:15 ET / 23:15 WIB: Goolsbee moderates a Q&A, confirmed as 10:15 Central; this is not necessarily a prepared monetary-policy speech. Chicago Fed
- 11:30 ET / 23:30 WIB: 13-/26-week bill competitive bidding closes; results pending, not long-duration coupon auctions. Treasury auction records
- Later: SLOOS 14:00 ET / 02:00 WIB on 3 November; Treasury financing estimates expected 15:00 ET / 03:00 WIB. Apple/Palantir calls are 17:00 ET / 05:00 WIB. Fed, Treasury
Read growth and inflation jointly: resilient orders with cooler prices would favor recovery only if yields and equities cooperate. Strong activity with hotter prices and rising yields could pressure NQ. Weak orders with falling yields but falling chips would instead suggest growth anxiety. None of these outcomes is known yet.
Ranked opening scenarios
1. Bullish recovery/continuation. After the data, require acceptance above the completed 15-minute opening-range high: a two-minute close outside followed by a separate successful retest, with semiconductor participation. Watch a breakout–retest long. Invalidate on loss of the retest low and renewed acceptance inside the range. Objectives are the next same-contract overnight swing and subsequent intraday extension, verified on the trader’s feed. Stand aside if the move is already extended or leaders diverge.
2. Two-way auction. Repeated excursions fail, price returns inside the range and leadership remains mixed. Watch a failed-breakout reclaim at an edge, not the midpoint. A wick alone is insufficient: require a closing reclaim and retest. Invalidate if price establishes acceptance outside that edge. The midpoint, then opposite edge, are logical objectives. Stand aside if the range is too narrow relative to stop distance and costs.
3. Bearish continuation. Friday’s weakness resumes only if the rebound fails, NQ accepts below the completed range and a reclaim is rejected, preferably with chips weakening or oil/yields turning adverse. Watch a breakdown–retest short. Invalidate on acceptance back above the failed-reclaim swing. Objectives are verified overnight lows and subsequent lower intraday structure. Avoid chasing a single downward sweep that immediately recovers.
Two-minute execution playbook
Use only breakout–retest and failed-breakout reclaim setups.
- First five minutes: observe auction quality and spreads; no automatic gap chase.
- Minutes 5–15: build the 09:30–09:45 range. It is incomplete until 09:45, exactly when PMI can disrupt it.
- Minutes 15–60: prefer waiting through 10:00. Let at least two complete two-minute bars form after the release, then require the separate retest. Reassess leaders and rates; elapsed time alone does not qualify a setup.
- Remainder to lunch: trade only intact structure; reassess around Goolsbee and bill results. Stop recycling a failed thesis through repeated entries.
Stops belong beyond structural invalidation. Without an account risk budget, no contract quantity or fixed profit target is specified.
No-trade conditions
Stand aside for stale/mismatched contracts, abnormal spreads, unverified release headlines, repeated range sweeps, missing leadership confirmation, or insufficient room to the next obstacle. Do not enter immediately ahead of the 10:00 cluster merely because the overnight tape was positive.
Desk card
- Lean: cautious recovery; low–moderate confidence.
- Best long: post-data acceptance above the completed range with chips confirming.
- Best short: failed recovery, accepted breakdown and rejected reclaim.
- Invalidation: sustained acceptance below the range plus lost semiconductor support cancels the bullish preference.
- Levels: no independently validated numeric technical levels.
- Next timed catalyst: 09:45 ET / 21:45 WIB PMI; major interruption 10:00 ET / 22:00 WIB.
- Avoid: chasing gaps, headline wicks and unreleased earnings narratives.
- Conditional edge: trade a confirmed retest when price structure and leadership agree after the scheduled information arrives.
Data limitations and refresh: numeric support/resistance, session profile, VWAP, order flow and dealer gamma are unavailable; confirm them on a same-contract feed. The final refresh retained the recovery picture, with NQ slightly softer than the initial snapshot and mixed Treasury yields now verified. Fresh calendar results remained pending; no verified headline changed the lean. Uncorroborated feed claims were excluded. This is a timestamped edition, not continuous monitoring.
