Opening brief
Thursday, 29 October. Updated research cutoff: 2026-10-29T13:25:20.805909Z, or approximately 09:25 ET / 20:25 WIB. Cash opens 09:30 ET / 20:30 WIB; coverage ends 12:00 ET / 23:00 WIB. The original edition was live-verified at 19:10 WIB. This revision adds released GDP/PCE, the ECB decision and supplied charts; it is a timestamped premarket assessment, not a live signal feed. Nasdaq calendar
Lean: cautious bearish background; neutral at the reclaimed intraday pivot, with conditional recovery potential. Confidence: low to moderate. Alphabet/semiconductor weakness in the earlier snapshot remains relevant background, but the latest native December NQ screenshot shows a failed downside extension and rebound from roughly 29,570 toward 29,690. Do not carry the earlier short preference through a successful reclaim without reassessment. Current equity leadership and Treasury reactions have not been refreshed.
Potential edge: trade whether the reclaimed 29,670–29,705 area holds after the opening auction. A successful retest can expose 29,730–29,770; a failed reclaim can reopen 29,640–29,650, then 29,595–29,605. Neither path is confirmed before a completed signal and separate retest. The 15-minute opening range completes at 20:45 WIB, when the ECB press conference starts; reassess the event before acting. ECB
Released macro and chart update — 29 October
Released 08:30 ET / 19:30 WIB actuals, using the same Econoday survey benchmark for each comparison:
| Measure | Actual | Consensus on the cited source |
|---|---|---|
| Q3 real GDP, quarter-on-quarter annualized | 3.4% | 3.1% |
| September headline PCE prices, monthly / yearly | 0.5% / 3.6% | 0.5% / 3.6% |
| September core PCE prices, monthly / yearly | 0.3% / 3.1% | 0.3% / 3.1% |
GDP accelerated from 2.2% in Q2. The source revises August monthly core PCE to 0.3%, so describing September as an acceleration from an unrevised 0.2% would be misleading. GDP actuals, income/PCE actuals and revision.
Interpretation: growth exceeded this named forecast while inflation matched it and remained elevated. There is no downside inflation surprise on this benchmark to justify an automatic relief-rally thesis. Strong growth can support earnings while also sustaining rate concerns; the observed yield/equity response must decide which mechanism dominates. Current 2Y/10Y confirmation is unavailable. Weekly claims were scheduled in the same release window, but their actuals have not been verified in this revision; no pending forecast is presented as a result.
ECB decision released at 20:15 WIB: all three policy rates were held, leaving deposit/main refinancing/marginal lending rates at 2.50% / 2.65% / 2.90%. The ECB highlighted energy-related upside inflation and downside growth risks, with no preset rate path. This is secondary cross-asset context for NQ; the 20:45 press conference remains an event risk. ECB decision
Chart provenance and timing. Earlier TradingView MNQ1! H4/1h/5m/1m images are stamped 19:52–19:53 WIB. The newer DeepCharts native NQ-202612 1m/profile and DeepGamma QQQ screenshots were supplied around 20:21 WIB; the last visible native-chart time label is 20:15 and the exact capture minute is unverified. The native panel displays 29,689.75; the mapped QQQ panel displays about 29,691.75. These are supplied observations, not synchronized execution quotes. Continuous MNQ history and native NQ/session settings are not assumed tick-identical. No raw screenshots, account or broker details are published.
H4/1h still show a sharp rejection of the prior recovery and a test of the shaded roughly 29,570–29,675 region. The earlier 5m chart is rotational after a major decline; its displayed low is 29,483.25. The earlier 1m view has a different history window, with a displayed low of 29,510.75; neither label alone certifies the complete exchange-session low. The latest native 1m image shows a downside probe toward 29,570, recovery through the intraday reference near 29,645, and rotation around 29,690. This recovery weakens an immediate continuation-short thesis, but has not established a higher-timeframe reversal. Profile session boundaries are unverified: visible D P/D VH/D VL and A-H/E-H/E-L labels are platform references, not independently certified RTH statistics. No 15m chart was independently inspected; build the opening range on the execution feed.
| Native price reference, points | Observation and conditional draw |
|---|---|
| 29,670–29,705 | Reclaimed reference near 29,675 and current rotation/profile vicinity around 29,690–29,700. Decision zone; avoid treating its centre as a fresh low-risk entry. |
| 29,730–29,770 | Nearby repeated highs/profile-edge region and higher labelled reference on the native panel. First potential upside draw only if the reclaim holds. |
| 29,790–29,820; 29,840 | Older overhead references and the lower edge of the user-marked zone beginning near 29,809.75. Conditional stretch after the nearer highs are accepted, not an opening/lunch forecast. |
| 29,900–29,905 | Upper edge of that user-marked zone near 29,903.75. Distant reference only after intervening resistance is overcome. |
| 29,640–29,650 | Intraday reference near 29,645 reclaimed in the rebound; first downside reassessment if the current pivot fails. |
| 29,595–29,605 | Lower profile/price reaction region on the latest native image; next possible downside test. |
| 29,550–29,580 | Recent failed downside extension and lower labelled reference; distinguish a sweep/reclaim from sustained breakdown. |
| 29,510–29,520; 29,483–29,491 | Lower references on the supplied views, including the labelled 29,483.25 low. Relevant only after nearer support fails; no confirmed inventory of stops is claimed. |
These are approximate chart-derived zones and possible draws on liquidity, not confirmed resting orders, order-flow absorption, guaranteed targets or independently measured fair-value gaps. Refine them on the same December contract before execution. The large user-drawn 29,809.75–29,903.75 rectangle is treated only as a marked overhead area; its origin and validity as a gap have not been established.
Gamma overlay: the latest QQQ panel shows Summary approximately −1.6b, less negative than the earlier supplied −2.1b, with mapped put/call references near 29,752.15 / 29,952.15. The model remains negative; this can accompany amplified moves in either direction and does not independently predict a selloff. The change alone does not prove dealer buying or a gamma flip. QQQ-to-futures conversion, expiry/carry settings and actual dealer inventory are unverified. Do not merge these mapped values into exact native NQ levels. The yellow line around 29,848.78 is unidentified and is not called VWAP or gamma flip. The distant call reference is not today's default target. DeepGamma methodology
What changed since Wednesday’s cash close
Alphabet — verified results. Revenue was $127.577bn, GAAP EPS $2.12 and operating margin 32%. Cloud revenue increased 103% to approximately $30.7bn, while Search grew 12%. Operating cash flow of $42.290bn was exceeded by $51.355bn of capital expenditure, leaving negative free cash flow of $9.065bn. Company release, republished
Reuters/LSEG put revenue expectations at $128.2bn and advertising expectations at $83.4bn, versus approximately $82bn delivered. This is a revenue miss against that named benchmark; consensus vendors differ. Reuters
An equity-investment loss reduced EPS by $0.55; the GAAP decline therefore overstates deterioration in recurring operations. A comparable adjusted EPS consensus was not reconciled. Management expects capital expenditure to increase significantly in 2027. AP The earnings-call transcript retains a $195–205bn spending outlook for 2026. Transcript
Microsoft — verified counterweight. Revenue reached $92.279bn; GAAP/adjusted EPS were $4.92/$4.89. The $0.03 difference reflects OpenAI investment gains. Azure grew 48%. Operating income of $45.915bn implies an approximately 49.8% operating margin, calculated from reported figures. Cash property-and-equipment additions were $39.367bn. Microsoft
Investing.com’s comparable benchmark was $4.72 adjusted EPS and $90.61bn revenue. Expectations Reuters reports next-quarter Azure growth guidance of 49–50%, against 47.6% expected, and $45.2bn capex including finance leases. Spending undershot the company’s earlier projection partly because third-party capacity deliveries were delayed; that is not necessarily a permanent spending reduction. Reuters
Interpretation: the market is differentiating AI demand from shareholder cash returns. Alphabet’s sharp decline alongside Microsoft’s gain is consistent with that distinction, without proving a single cause. Semiconductor ETF weakness and declines in Nvidia, AMD and Broadcom broaden the concern beyond Alphabet, but positive Russell futures argue against uniform liquidation. No precise index-point contribution is estimated.
Fresh policy/geopolitics: the ECB announced that Christine Lagarde will step down on 7 February 2027, adding uncertainty around today’s policy communication. The rate decision is now released; see the update above. ECB announcement AP reports Iran’s claim that three tankers struck mines; AP could not independently confirm it. Treat the claim as headline risk, not established supply loss. AP Oil remains below its provider reference despite that risk, so an inflationary oil surge is not the observed morning signal. No independently verified new trade-policy measure is added.
Yesterday’s Fed hold at 3.75–4.00% preceded the cash close and is background, not fresh overnight news. Two dissenters preferred a 25bp increase, making today’s inflation details relevant. Fed statement

Ranked opening scenarios
1. Reclaim-hold recovery, conditional. The latest rebound makes a holding retest of 29,670–29,705 the immediate decision. After the opening auction and completed opening range, require a completed two-minute signal above the actual local trigger, a separate holding retest/higher low, and broader semiconductor participation. Use cash-session VWAP only when visible on the execution feed; it is not supplied here. Reassess at 29,730–29,770; only acceptance there makes 29,790–29,820/29,840 relevant. Invalidate below the actual defending retest swing and on sustained loss of the reclaimed zone. Do not buy simply because the rebound already travelled about 120 points, or if the remaining objective is too close. Acceptance over both the completed opening range and VWAP with improving chips cancels the earlier bearish preference.
2. Failed recovery / bearish continuation. A rejection near 29,700–29,740 is a candidate only if price subsequently loses 29,670, completes a two-minute close below the relevant opening/local structure, and fails a separate reclaim while chips remain weak. Evaluate 29,640–29,650, then 29,595–29,605; lower draws require fresh acceptance below each intervening support. A sustained reclaim of the rejection zone invalidates this short. Do not keep selling a successful reclaim. If the auction instead accepts below 29,550–29,580 and a retest fails, assess 29,510–29,520 then 29,483–29,491 without chasing into either objective.
3. Failed downside break / two-way auction. If the lower 29,550–29,580 region is swept and reclaimed, require a completed two-minute reclaim and a separate holding retest before considering rotation to 29,595–29,605 and 29,640–29,650, then the pivot if those levels are accepted. Invalidate outside the sweep extreme. If both edges repeatedly reject, avoid the centre and wait. No A+ probability or guaranteed move is claimed; these are untested conditional candidates from supplied snapshots.
Two-minute execution playbook
Use only breakout–retest and failed-break–reclaim setups.
- First five minutes: observe the auction and spreads; establish fresh post-data extremes. Overnight direction is not an entry signal.
- Minutes 5–15: map the developing 09:30–09:45 range. It is incomplete before 09:45; avoid anticipating its final boundaries.
- Minutes 15–60: pause around the ECB press-conference start, then require a completed two-minute signal and separate retest. Recheck headlines at 10:00. Place structural invalidation beyond the relevant swing; skip trades whose stop distance exceeds the trader’s risk budget.
- 10:30–12:00: reassess energy headlines, leadership and bill auctions. Continue only while structure remains coherent; do not convert a failed scalp into a longer holding period.
December contracts are verified; CME lists expiry on December 18 and customary roll on December 14. Today is not the quarterly roll. The supplied charts now provide the approximate zones above. Independent RTH-profile/VWAP, order-flow and actual dealer-inventory verification remain unavailable. Yesterday’s levels are not reused. Refine today’s references on the same NQZ26 execution feed. CME
No-trade conditions
Stand aside during unresolved data shocks, the 09:45 policy interruption, repeated failed retests, conflicting leadership, unreliable quotes, excessive spreads, or insufficient room before the next structural objective. No contract size or fixed profit target is specified without a risk budget.
Desk card
- Lean: cautious bearish background; neutral at the reclaimed pivot, conditional recovery potential; low-to-moderate confidence.
- Potential alpha: distinguish a holding reclaim from a failed rebound in a negative model-gamma regime; price acceptance decides direction.
- Best long: holding reclaim/retest above 29,670–29,705 with completed opening-range confirmation and improving chips; evaluate 29,730–29,770 first.
- Best short: failed rebound and loss of 29,670, followed by a failed reclaim; evaluate 29,640–29,650 then 29,595–29,605.
- Invalidation: sustained opening-range/VWAP reclaim with improving chips cancels the bearish preference; sustained loss of the actual defending swing cancels the recovery long.
- Levels: supplied native-chart zones above; mapped QQQ gamma is kept separate. Refine on the execution feed.
- Next catalyst: cash open 20:30 WIB, then ECB press conference 20:45 at 15-minute range completion.
- Avoid: chasing the rebound at the pivot, blind shorts after a reclaim, and automatic 20:45 entries.
Data limitations and final refresh
This manual revision replaces pending GDP/PCE and ECB-decision status with released actuals, and adds the supplied charts. Original company and cross-asset quote timestamps remain unchanged. Current Treasury/stock reactions, claims actuals, audited RTH profile/VWAP and raw order flow remain unverified. The latest supplied native price is around 29,690; no current price is inferred beyond the capture. The snapshot cutoff is premarket; any later delivery time does not turn these observations into live opening data. No raw images or account details are published. Future daily editions must obtain fresh data rather than reuse these levels.
